On Tuesday, September 19th, the High Point University College Republicans Club hosted an event with David Hart, the GOP Precinct Chair for Guilford County. The purpose of this event was to teach students about campaign messaging. Hart, discussed ways that students can get involved with future elections.

Hart has been working with Guilford County’s Republican Party for three years and is now in charge of Precinct H-25.

Being the precinct chair, Hart has the responsibility to communicate with the voters of his precinct, which is about 1,500 registered Republicans.

Hart and his vice chair get together and decide what new programs they will be implementing for each election and feed information up to the district chairs. Their overall goal is to have social gatherings, to help grow and unite the community and to find volunteers.

The View Point has been asked not to share the messaging strategies used by the Guilford County GOP.  However, Hart shared some ideas for those who are interested in volunteering and participating.

“If you want to get even more involved, then experiment with different roles,” said Hart. “Be a poll greater for a few hours down at a polling station. All you need to do is register. This is the lowest level of volunteering. You can also be a poll observer, and get the feel of what is going on inside the election process. Observe the stations, and see if you find them interesting. If you wanted to go even further, you could be a poll judge for the general elections or a chief judge for the primary and general elections. Connect with your campaign headquarters, and head to polling stations to observe”.

Many individuals who attended the meeting were interested in getting involved. If anyone is interested in getting involved with the local elections, reach out to the Guilford County GOP via email or visit their website here.
